Orange County Hotel/Motel Tax Application Available

NEW Deadline 5:00 p.m. Friday, January 20, 2012

Orange County is presently accepting applications for Hotel/Motel Tax funding requests for the 2010-2012 Fiscal Years.  The Orange County Hotel/Motel Tax committee has released applications for non-profit entities to apply for a portion of the county’s Hotel/Motel Tax funds.  Any 501(C) organization in Orange County that attracts visitors to Orange County Texas, may make application to the committee.  There are a number of restrictions by state law as to how the funds can be utilized.  These restrictions are found in the press release portion of the application.   Deadline information is found in the application letter.

Applications will be accepted through 5:00 p.m., January 20, 2012 and should be mailed to the attention of Bobby Fillyaw, Executive Director, Orange County Economic Development Corp., 1201 Childers Road, Orange, Texas 77630.  The attached application form should be used for your request.  Application forms may be downloaded by clicking here. 

If you received funding from last year’s County Hotel/Motel Tax Funds, please include information regarding the event or project that was funded.  The information should include how the funds were utilized, the number of people that attended and the number of local hotel rooms utilized because of the funding.  THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT STEP IF YOU WERE PREVIOUSLY FUNDED!

The groundbreaking finally happened!

This exciting $10.5 Million dollar project is GREAT news for Orange County!

 

The long awaited groundbreaking ceremony for the Orange County Shelter of Last Resort & Emergency Operations Center FINALLY happened!   This $10.5 Million dollar project is being funded through a grant from Community Development Block Grant Funds, insurance proceeds, some FEMA dollars and other funds.  The project will not create any new debt for Orange County.  It will house several different offices for Orange County and it will serve as a “shelter of last resort” during times of emergency in Orange County.  Also located in the building will be a new state of the art Emergency Operations Center.

"Explore Orange County Texas" Magazine Volume 3

HAS ARRIVED!

The Orange County Economic Development Corporation's 3rd volume of “Explore Orange County Texas – Experience the possibilities” Magazine has arrived.   The publishing of this quality of life piece that serves as both a visitor’s guide and a general marketing brochure has been a very effective tool in our marketing of Orange County.  We are in the process of delivering the magazine to all of the Orange County Hotels, the Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Texas Travel Center on IH-10 and the Ben Rogers Information Center as well as many other locations.  Please feel free to stop by the office and pick up a copy.

We were successful in previous years in our efforts to create a partnership with local business and industries to help increase our funding and, secondly, to develop suitable marketing materials to assist in our efforts.  This achieves one of our goals highlighted in our strategic plan and we want to sincerely thank all of you who helped us be so successful in our venture of publishing this magazine.

This magazine is being used not only to introduce and welcome visitors to our community but, hopefully, is also encouraging new workers to want to “live, work and play” in Orange County and creating new revenue streams for Orange County retailers.  Our plan is to continue placing this annual publication in the area visitor centers, hotels and utilizing them as part of our overall marketing material that we send to prospective companies and workers.
